HOW? GET VOCAL and fight “city hall” in informed, appropriate, effective ways. It’s grassroots advocacy at its best. Take advantage of VOCAL free workshops and events and go beyond talking and start doing.

VOCAL community partners are people of all ages and in all places. They include you, associations, institutions, houses of worship, organizations, schools, businesses, senior programs, voluntary service agencies and government.

ADVOCACY is speaking on behalf of yourself or others with accurate information and up-to-date skills. Advocacy for the public good includes communicating with your legislators by personal visits; personal letters, faxes or emails; phone calls directly to their offices; postcards, emails, letters that are part of a campaign; speaking up at community meetings and voting. Your advocacy may take many forms, but anyone who cares about an issue and is willing to make a difference can be an advocate. The only qualifications for being an effective advocate are concern, information, commitment and action.
